KEEPING CRIME OFF OUR STREETS

I am committed to ensuring the safety and security of our neighborhoods in District 10 and across Nassau County. With property crimes on the rise, and the safety of our neighborhoods in question, it is clear that we need action, not words. I have a comprehensive plan to address the unique challenges we face here, and to curb the rise of crime we’ve seen under the current administration.

We can effectively keep our communities in Nassau County crime-free. I am dedicated to working tirelessly to address the unique challenges we face, empowering residents, and creating an environment where everyone feels safe and secure.

Enhancing Law Enforcement Capabilities

I will work to ensure that our law enforcement agencies in Nassau County have the necessary resources, training, and technology to effectively combat crime. As your legislator, I will tirelessly advocate for increased funding for new equipment such as catalytic converter etching, which will allow NCPD to track stolen catalytic converters and prevent future theft, expanding training programs, and utilizing data-driven approaches to identify crime hotspots and allocate resources accordingly.

hate crime prevention

Early in 2023, the Nassau County Legislature refused to take up a bill to enact a hate crimes unit for the county. When elected, I will reintroduce this legislation, which would focus on establishing clear reporting protocols to ensure that incidents are properly documented and addressed. Hate crimes against Jewish, AAPI, LGBTQ+, and other communities are sadly on the rise in Nassau County. As an AAPI person, this hits close to home for me, and I will work closely with law enforcement agencies to enhance their ability to respond to and investigate hate crimes effectively.

strengthening community policing

I will advocate for the implementation of community policing strategies that foster stronger relationships between law enforcement and residents, and hiring more police officers to keep communities safe. This includes hiring 110 more police officers, promoting regular neighborhood meetings, establishing neighborhood watch programs, and encouraging community members to actively participate in crime prevention efforts.

Targeted Crime Prevention Initiatives

I will support and allocate resources to targeted crime prevention programs tailored to the needs of Nassau County. We can do this by collaborating with local organizations to develop initiatives such as youth mentorship programs, diversion programs for at-risk individuals, more efficient methods of reporting property crime, and promoting drug prevention and rehabilitation programs.

promoting public safety partnerships

I will foster collaborations between law enforcement agencies, local businesses, schools, and community leaders to ensure a coordinated approach to public safety. By promoting information-sharing, joint training exercises, and implementing crime prevention measures, we can create a unified front against crime in Nassau County.
